The planet Uranus

Uranus is different from the other planets in that it spins on its side. Both poles will alternately point directly at the Sun. This unusual behavior is thought to have been the result of a collision with another large body.

Uranus remained undiscovered, being hardly noticeable to the naked eye, until 1781, when astronomer William Herschel noticed it whilst looking through his home made telescope.

Uranus is comprised of a large mantle of ammonia, water, ice and methane around a large iron silicate core. The atmosphere is mainly hydrogen, helium and methane. Uranus, like Saturn, also has rings. These rings are mode up of small rocks, ice and dust.
