Space - Gemini-project

Gemini

The Gemini project was announced in January 1962. The Gemini spacecraft had a crew of two astronauts.

The main objectives were:

to investigate the possibilities of men living for an extended period of two weeks in space
explore and develop the methodology necessary to rendezvous and dock with another space vehicle
gain experience of re-entry and landing

Gemini Spacecraft

There were ten missions in all:

Mission Date Crew Launch Vehicle Duration	Gemini 4 June 3-7 , 1965 James Mcdivitt , Edward White Titan 4 days 1 hr. 56 min. Ed White made the first Extravehicular Activity (EVA) or Space walk that lasted 22 min.

Mission Date Crew Launch Vehicle Duration	Gemini 5 August 21-29 , 1965 Gordon Cooper , Charles Conrad Titan 7 days 22 hrs.55 min.

Mission Date Crew Launch Vehicle Duration	Gemini 7 December 4-18 , 1965 Frank Borman , James Lovell Titan 13 days 18 hrs.35 min. Gemini 7 was used to determine whether humans could live in space for 14 days.
